For Physicians and Referring Providers
I welcome referrals from physicians and interdisciplinary care teams seeking psychological support for adult patients navigating the emotional and psychological impact of medical illness, including cancer and other complex health conditions.
My work is grounded in health psychology and informed by clinical experience within academic medical and community-based settings. I have worked closely with physicians, healthcare teams, and institutions to support care that is both psychologically and medically informed, with attention to the complexity of patients’ clinical presentations and lived experiences.
Clinical Focus
I provide individual and group psychotherapy for adults who may be:
-
Undergoing cancer treatment or managing serious medical conditions
-
Adjusting to life after treatment or survivorship
-
Living with chronic illness or ongoing health concerns
-
Experiencing anxiety, depression, or distress in the context of medical illness
-
Navigating complex medical decision-making or uncertainty
-
Managing the psychological impact of caregiving roles
Referrals are also appropriate for individuals presenting with co-occurring mental health concerns that may benefit from integrated psychological care.
Approach to Care
My approach is integrative and tailored, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based strategies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic principles. I also incorporate psycho-education and skills-based interventions to support symptom management, coping, and adjustment over time.
Care is collaborative and responsive, with attention to both immediate concerns and broader emotional, behavioral, and relational patterns. The aim is not only symptom relief, but meaningful and sustainable improvement in psychological well-being, coping, and quality of life.
Collaboration and Communication
When appropriate and with patient consent, I am available to collaborate with referring providers to support coordinated and comprehensive care. This may include communication regarding treatment planning, clinical impressions, and relevant updates, with the goal of aligning psychological care with the patient’s broader medical needs.
Referral Considerations
Referrals may be especially helpful for patients who:
-
Are experiencing emotional distress that is affecting medical care or quality of life
-
Would benefit from support with coping, adherence, or adjustment
-
Are navigating complex or evolving medical conditions
-
May benefit from a structured, skills-based and insight-oriented therapeutic approach
Patients are seen for individual or group psychotherapy, with services offered via telehealth and, when appropriate, in person.
